• Average DB rating for what I'm running

Right now, I'm running two 12" Audiobahn Alum12Q's off of a 1600 watt Kenwood Excelon amp. I used this setup at a competition last year, and hit a measly 133 db. I found out after that, that my box wasn't any good, so I bought a deep well box from Megabass, which has helped tremendously. Can someone give me a good guesstimate as to what I should probably be hitting with this setup? I'm going to a competition this Friday, and I want to know if I'm able to hit right around the average or not.

It is totally dependant on the mic IMO. Assuming that the 1600 watts is RMS I'd say ballpark 145 or so

not sure man, The subs are good but dont care for Kenwood. I hit 140db last year with 2 kicker comp 10 and a punch 500a2 in a sealed box.

SPL numbers are really tough to guess at. Lots of factors to take into account. Subs, amp, vehicle, box design, etc, etc.

I did a really nice slot ported box for a kid to put in his Extended cab Chevy truck. 2 Memphis 12's, 900 watt Arc Audio amp = 135.7dB.
In my car, same style box, but for a single Diamond CM3 12, 450 watt Arc Audio amp, 137.3db. Go figure...

Well, considering I know the box is good'n solid and it's even ported and you're using 12s and not 10s, plus you have decent power and known spl subs, I will go on the high end and say 147-149ish. I don't know a lot about that amp. I tend to think of kenwood's amps as a little overrated in the power department. I dunno. If you had an orion or ppi, jl or even jbl, I would've said higher.

If you don't get at least 145, then something else is wrong or at least could be improved upon. Sound deadening, better wiring, new subs, more power, etc. I have guys with two 12" alpines and a lot smaller (sealed) boxes hitting 145-147. So that's my basis. But like matt says, the mic makes a difference too. Keep us updated :D

Ya, i guess there is a new law in illinois so watch out!!! They are required to tow the car. SO it was $260 to the state, $77 for the tow and $100 for the ticket so $437. the are doing it for tinted windows on the side too! FTP!
