  • Alpine vs. Sony HU

Which cd player in your opinion is better. The Sony CDX-MP70 Xplod or the Alpine CDA-7893? Any opinions would be good.

7893. Let's see the Sony do 4-channel time correction....I didn't think so. ;) Oh, and the 78-- series is several years old now. The 98-- series would probably be a better idea. Check out the 9811.

I recently got the Alpine CDA-9807 earlier this year for christmas. I have the stock bose system in my 94 camaro. The unit i bought had a MX BAss Engine. Everyone thinks i have subwoofers but i really dont. I think the alpine head unit i bought is godly. It has multiple options including a search mode for those big *** MP3 filled discs. It puts out the music great with the bose speakers. Havnt had no problem at all. The people at crutchfield did have to upgrade the wireing harness, that was the only think that slowed up the install. They put some high dollar wiring harness in it and ive had no problems...Also most Alpine Head unit come with DVD readable drives incase you ever decide to add a tv and also has a nice subwoofer controller if u ever add subs. I highly reccomend Alpine Head Units....

Yah I have an older pioneer deck DEH 2100 that came with the car. I bought the guys system(Speakers, amp, and two 10in subs, with the special box that fits in the hatch) all for $200. Now say I went with the pioneer DEH 6500 series, would I need a new wiring harness? Also how much would a new harness cost me? Yah Sony is out of the question after looking more into it. Between pioneer and Alpine. Trying to find a good used one cheap. Alpines are really sweet.

Also is the Kenwood MPV 619 a good deck. A friend is willing to sell me it, cause he got it for Christmas and doesnt want it cause he has to sell his car. It does play MP3, and it is pretty cheap.

hey if your lookin for a cheap alpine, the old 7863 is nice. it doesnt have time correction but i think that is overated especially with the kind of system you are talking about. its not the best but i would recomend it over pioneer... but i have had a lot of bad experiences with pioneer so im a little bith partial.

Would that be able to play MP3's? Also how close is the 7839 to it?

no mp3's. if you really want that then you have to move up the line a little. its a little older than the 7839 i beleive but it was an awsome unit for the time. it has the 60x4 amp (27x4 rms), 2 preamps, that you can select sub out or rear out for one set, has the remote, and a bunch of little options. for 100 buck though its the best there is. i had no probs with it when i used it. if you want to spend a little more (like 300 dollars) look into the eclipse units. there are by far the best HU's on the market. the Eclipse 8443 is awsome, doesnt do mp3's but there is an add on for it that allows you to use mp3's called the eclipse commander. this hu has 8v preouts and all the bells and whistles. if you are in the market for the best go with that.
