i just bought an optima yellow top battery from 3800performance.com. Does it need the little adapter mount to mount it to the car? if so, does it come with it?

thats pretty cool, but i wouldnt like the idea of shipping a heavy *** battery back.

Then waiting a few days till i get it back then having to pay return shipping back.

its an optima. im not too worried.

anyways, question... can i keep the battery here in my room for a few months/maybe a year before i install it? would that be ok?

i dont really know why, my dad says its bad for batteries and they will discharge quicker.

I knwo this for a fact because i was charging my competely discharged optima on the ground for 3 days straight and the red light on the charger was still on!

I told my dad i might need a new battery he goes out and looks and says but its on the ground, put it on this block of wood. 12 hours later the battery was fully charged.

That should only happen on concrete. I love my optima yellow top, had it all most 2 years now and its been drained and charged more times than I can remember.

WHy do you not want to install it for up to a year? If you don't install it pick up a 1 amp trickle charger and just keep that on it.
