Well the name says it best. i have a single 15" P3 woofer going into my car and i need a place to put it. so far im just doing to build a mdf box in my trunk and have it on an angle at the top and the sup sitting there airing into the car. im going to start off sealed. but if i dont have enough bass ill go to a ported design. any ideas on how to start? easy ways to build it? thanks guys

I have a kenwood excelon monoblock. 1040RMS @ 4ohm

jeeze, my apologies for sounding like a ricer. and making an obscene guess. I have never done any sterio compitition stuff befor and i really dident know. i was just hoping for somthing around 140!?!!?
I assure you I am 100% anti rice my family has had 6camaros over the years. and im also very sure my amp has enough power to blow my P3 seeing as my amp makes 1040rms and the sub will take 500rms??? do the math. So im sure that wasent a statement to outlandish.
Is it possible for an less knoledgable person to ask for advice about somthing they want to learn about without being ridiculed or made fun of?
I was seeking advice for the best way to build my box. is there one way better than another? and designs that sound better than others? recommendations.... thats all

Something you might want to consider is having the sub firing down, into the well area as opposed to at the rear window. Not true. You can ask anyone who has had a milhouse box the difference from when the subs are facing down vs. when they are facing the rear window. Changing the phase of the sub will also affect it's sound. 95Bat & Larry, I think you're both right actually. When people say the frequencies that subwoofers produce are "omnidirectional" they mean you cannot tell which direction they are coming from. Not necessarily louder or more quite. Now then, from flat-out experience I can tell you that larry's statement is also correct.

I agree that people say subs are "omnidirectional" and you cannot tell where it is coming from. However, from personal experiences with both car and home audio, it takes a well EQ'd and integrated subwoofer for this to be the case.
