  • Audio Out from Laptop to Car Amp

I am wanting to run a wire from the audio out on my laptop to my car stereo, as far as I can tell, there isn't a way to do so through the deck.

I am not sure what the output voltage is on the laptop, but I was wondering if it would hurt the amp if I hooked it up that way?

    Please let me know.

You can hook the line output from the laptop into the amp, no problem. Just make sure it's "line out" instead of the headphone output.

      Ok... Thanks.

But, just for fun, whats wrong with going from the headphone jack?

      Thanks,

        1) The impedence of the headphone output will not match the High-Z input of the amplifier

        2) The levels will be quirky, to say the least

        3) because of 1 and 2, the sound won't be the best.

        Hey, it's possible though!

Have you looked at the possibility of an FM modulator with line-level inputs to broadcast from your laptop to your radio?

Do you want to run it to your HU or your amp? You can buy a headphone plug-to-RCA audio cable from Wal-Mart. That's what I use to get audio from my laptop to my home stereo receiver.

I think he's saying he doesn't have RCA ins...i may be wrong though.

If you have RCA inputs, you want a "1/8" stereo phono to dual RCA" cord.
