• New radio controls

I have excersized due diligence in searching for this question (both on the board and the web) and the results seem to be nada or they are evading me...

I would like to have steering wheel radio controls for my 98 bird but, if possible, would like to buy a kit and then purchase a head unit based on what the kit supports...

    Has anyone done this?

    Thanks!

Kit? What kind of kit are we talking here? You just wanna replace the stock head unit, but keep the steering wheel contols right? Alls you need is the PAC SWI-X. $57

I don't have the controls. I want them. Sorry for the confusion!

I'd like to find some kind of kit that I can install and then purchase a sterio that the kit supports...

      Thanks for your reply

Has anyone installed these 3rd party controls in their bird that did not have the option when they got the bird?

        Thanks!

I thought all 93 and up firebirds had steering wheel controls. I know that they changed the design in 95 to the current design for the firebird/trans am.

Try again... My 98 Firebird does NOT have the steering wheel radio controls, are there any kits around I can install to make it so?

                Thanks in advance!

go to ls1.com and talk to SShevy, (moderator of electronics section)

i know for the pre 2000 Camaro's you need a new airbag, problay the same for the birds, but he is the person that has done a few of these installs, and will know what is necessary.

I'm sure there's a way. SShevy would definatly be able to help you. But I see you replacing the entire sterring wheel with one that has the controls. Can't just add the buttons.
