in the gas station the other night i seen a kid pull in, he had a tv built into his console below his radio, and on the tv he looked to have some kind of diagnostic chart in realtime being displayed... does anyone know what that was and how he did thaT? was he using a laptop and hid it somewhere in his car?

I'm guessing he had a small footprint computer running Autotap, or some other program that can display info in realtime. Those mini computers can be built small enough to fit under a seat and can output an rca video signal for a low res screen.
Now that's a good use for an LCD screen I never thought of.1999 red 38000 Camaro
Leaking rear main seal (not really a mod though)

This stuff is easy to do. I'm seriously doubting you need any real processing power for just reading data, either. Just get an old computer, build a tiny little case for it, mount it somewhere cool, and wire it to the LCD screen.. you can get a touch screen, and I know there's a little thing you can put over the LCD screen that acts as a mouse, too.
