• Pic Request: Custom 6x9 Installs

I got a pair of 300w 6x9s that I want to relocate from a ****ty *** location that the previous owner installed them in to somewhere better looking/more functional. Where have ya'll done it?

Not too many of us use 6x9s. Maybe a few but not me ;)

Well right now its got a JVC headunit (real nice), a pair of lightning audio 10" subs, a lightning audio amp, two 6x9s, and whatever the other speakers are. It sounds good so I'm not really going to **** with what the components are - i'm just going to clean up the install a little bit.

I've got two 6x9's mounted in boxes in my car. All I did was build a small shelf attached to my amp rack that located them behind the rear seat. Makes a lot of difference in the highs.

I put these 6x9's in my '94 Camaro

Used two of the stock holes, then I had to cut away part of the hole and drill new holes for the screws.

Did you use the stock wires to hook those up ?

Nah, I ran new wire because I am pushing them with an amp. But if you plan on pushing with the head unit you could probably use the stock wires.

Hmm I thought about putting em in the door. I'm sure it's possible. But I think there would be a lot of rattle unless it was done perfectly.

when u have a box in your truck they sell padding for ur truck so it dosent rattle, im sure it could be shoved in the door as well

I have 5 1/2 aluminum Arc audio coaxles in the doors and 6x9's in the speaker compartments right behind the driver and passenger seat. I did not do the install, but I know they had to cut away something. It's more expensive, but it's very worth it to amp everything. Dynamat is expensive to use to stop rattling, but it works. I went to a local body shop and they had a material that does the same thing that they put into cars to keep outside niose out, and your music in. It REALLY helps. Check out my setup. My Car is about halfway down, the black box. Look for the name Cam Corbin.</a>
