right now i have a jensen 200w amp running a single jl 8" sub in a powerwedge box in the well in my trunk. a friend totalled his car and said i can borrow his speakers until he gets another car. it's a directed 650 5 ch. amp and 2 10" eclipse subs. it was crazy loud in his car. would it work to just unplug the wires to the old amp and sub and plug it into the new amp? i'm guessing i'll need to get it done somewhere, since the new amp will have to run to the other speakers in the cabin...

Ok, first off, do you have the monsoon system? How do you have your jenson amp wired up? Have you replaced your head unit yet? Need more info about what you already have. Next, how much does his 5th channel output? More then your jenson amp? If so, take the jenson amp out of your car all together..... need some more info... then I can help you more.

kenwood head unit, infinity kappa components in the doors and kappa midranges in backseats, both running off the head unit
head unit also goes to the jensen 200w amp that pushes just the 8" jl sub

here are the specs on the directed amp:
      Amplifier Type: Multi-Channel
      RMS Power: 50W x 4 + 250W x 1
      Bridged RMS Power: 150W x 2 + 350W x 1

i was thinking, either ditch the amp and sub i have now and use this directed amp to run all 4 speakers and the subs
or run the head unit to each amp, use the jensen 200w amp to power the components, use the directed 150w x 2 to run the midranges and the 350w x 1 to push the eclipse subs

Does that Jenson amp actually output 200WRMSx1? Is it a two channel amp? How many RCA outs does your head unit have? The 5-channel amp might require 3 RCAs in. Front, rear and the subout. Maybe only two.....front and rear. Ok, for sure take out your 8" and run the 10"s off the 5th channel on the DEI amp. Then... depending on how much that Jenson actually outputs.... maybe go with the 2nd option you mentioned.
