• In car PS2

I have a ps2 mounted in the rear hatch area of my camaro. I have the ignition fuse tapped so power is given to the ps2 whenever the car is started. i have a wireless remote and I ran all the wires under the carpet. I have it inputing to my visor screen tv.. The problem is that the ps2 needs to be turned on when power is given. So whenever i want ps2 i have to pop the hatch and press the power button.. Does anyone here know of a way to wire the PS2 so it automatically powers up when power is given to it.. This is more of a PS2 Tech or modification question but I thought Id try asking here anyways... Thanks

Well i guess since u have it back there you have to go back there all the time.

I wanted to put it back there where its out of the way but i ran into the same problem , so i made a custom box and now its in between the 2 rear seats.

I dont know if you've solved this yet, but I 've heard of ways to turn the PS2 on from standby by pressing the triangle button on the controller.
Of course if you mean flipping the switch in the back you're screwed.
the controller trick does require some modding of the PS2.

You need something like THIS , with one in the dash to aim the PS2 remote at, and the other in the trunk in fron of the PS2 infrared sensor.

Stupid thought but.....since the ps2 is already getting power from the ignition why don't you leave the ps2 in "on" position and run a flip switch between the ignition wire to decide when you want the ps2 on, kinda like installing neons you know.

once the unit gets power it goes into standby mode, much like a home radio where the clock comes on but it doesnt turn on...and I remember seeing something about opening up the controller tapping into a few wires and being able to eject your disc drive and power on and of the unit...search on some gamer sites...you should find something

You know, this would be alot easier if you just installed it in the glove compartment.

It shouldn't be that hard, if your not electronicly challenge.

Mind you I do no own a PS2 or yet even opened one up, but as long as the power on button is a seperate button attach that is not attached to the circuit board directly, you would just have to extend the wires from the button After you pop out the botton solder in some extension wires of the same gauge long engouh to where you can install the button on your dash. Just be sure to tape up and secure everything so that the wires dont pull out of the circuit board. I would stay away from using a switch or another button in place of the PS2 button, because you might run into some ohm problems.

i didnt want to put my ps2 in the dash, i want everything factory, and i have a wireless remote.. Am i screwed, and i would rather close the circuit permanently then run a switch up to the front of the car. I am very good with electronics.. I build computers and overclock and I mod AMD Cpus.. The computer i'm on now has two laptop processors in it. They are overclocked from 2500+s to 2900+s hehe thought i'd throw that in there.
