  • Equilizer question...

My car has the stock CD player + equlizers HU, but I'm not entirely sure where to put the bars. From my experience with Winamp, if I want full bass but little treble, it would look something like this:

    </font><blockquote>code:</font><hr /><pre style="font-size:x-small; font-family: monospace;">_
\_</pre>[/QUOTE]Or if I wanted full base and some treble, it would be something like this:

    </font><blockquote>code:</font><hr /><pre style="font-size:x-small; font-family: monospace;">_
\-</pre>[/QUOTE]Where do you have your equilizers for the best sound?

i like to have my mids as the strongest sound range. i put the bass slightly about the center, rais the mids up gradually so that the center band is about 80% up and then gradually down with the highs at about center. kinda like this -/\-

It's totally a matter of personal preference. I change my settings based on the tonal balance of the original recordings, whether or not I'm playing music loudly, and how fast the car is moving. In detail:

-Some recordings are brighter/bassier/etc. than others to begin with
-The bass and [slight] treble boost are more necessary at lower volumes to give you a sense of "fullness" in the sound than they are when loud.
-This car [more than any other I've had] really cancels out bass frequencies more and more the faster you drive [road noise]. That's why I've just bought a new HU with an independent adjustment for subwoofer volume.

Hope this helps. It really is a matter of personal preference. You could break something by playing the system very loud with the bass boosted all the way using a bass-heavy recording.
