  • decided on a new headunit... still have a few ?'s

alright first of all i have a 1995 camaro w/ the 4 speaker system, am/fm radio, and the tape deck. i also have a sony 10 cd changer that the previous owner installed. i'm seriously considering this HU http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....1099388424944, its a Pioneer DEH-P4700MP

but first i have a few questions. a.) do you think thats a good choice for a HU? b.) will i still be able to use my sony 10 cd changer w/ it? c.)if i am able to still use it, will i still have my little cd changer control's or will i be able to control the cd changer through the new HU?

i appreciate any and all help, lata!

The head unit you chose looks alright - nothing special. I'd say you could probably get a better one for the same price or slightly more/less if you shop around. I mean it's good, but what do you want it for? Do you even have an amp. or subs, or is this just for playing cd's? If so, I don't think you need to be spending all of that money on a head unit. Also I noticed it doesn't have any aux input. Peronsonally, that's a big part of it for me.

It doesn't sound like your cd changer uses aux input now, since you're running the tape deck from the factory so it should be ok with your new one, but I would check.

And I see no reason why the remote wouldn't work, but I doubt you could use head unit controls since it's not a sony headunit.

Then again I could be wrong on some things, but from what I can see, this should be right.

well eventually down the road i'd like to get some dual 10" subs, a amp, and all that good stuff. but i'm only 16 and moneys a little hard to come by sometimes so i'm trying to take things one @ a time. so i decided why not start w/ a good HU. **actually i forgot to mention i already have some Pioneer speakers** but anyways, i'll keep looking around for a better one w/ aux input. thanks for the advice!

Being that you're looking at a pioneer headunit you would need a, don't quote me, RBJ10. Since the pioneer headunits don't have an rca input they used that to plug into the back that converts from their wierd looking plug in the back to an RCA.

I would take the headunit you have now out and see how it wires up to the cd changer to try and figure out what would need to be done if you were to purchase the pioneer.
