Right now i got one 15 inch fosgate sub in a sealed box in the back. I dont have a dB meter, but i think that the one 15 is almost as loud or just a tad louder then the two twelves i was running. I think the main difference is that i got the fifteen hitting inside the hatch. Im running an american bass 1000d amp its pushing about 350-400 watts to the sub. I think the only problem with the 15 is that the sub is slapping the trunk, im not totally sure yet havent got in depth at setting all the levels and checking total clearence, lol so anyways after all the rambling. Is it possible that 1 15 is louder then two 12's

It's possible, but I don't think it would happen with equal power. I think the 15 would need more watts than the 12s in order to play louder.
Where you from anyhow? In the past couple weeks, I've built a couple dual 15 boxes for camaros. I think those will be pretty loud. I've done single 15s before many times. One of which was for a competition, but never did hear what he hit with it. He was running a RF Power HX2 15" with 3.75 cu.ft. of air and around 1600 watts RMS so that should be enough to make his head hurt :D

I live in valpo up north near the lake. I think the sound is very close to the same. I asked my friend whos rode in it with me with both setups and he thinks the 15 is a lil louder, but im afraid the 15 is slappin the trunk and i dont wanna put a rip in the cone. I think the main difference is the 15 firing directly into the trunk space, my twelves were just aiming up but not into nothing cept the front glass.

i think it is very close to the same the only diff i can think of is that the 15 plays a bit deeper than either of the 12s, and its possible to put them in your car no problem... : )
