Okay, I've decided to edit this first post. Although it took me nearly all day working alone, I've finished my alarm system install....
and it works!
I highly recommend the link that nda has listed below. Although I didn't do everything exactly the way he did, it is a really good, step by step, illustrated version of how to do this.
The only significant change I made in my install is I took my +12v constant and switched power sources off of the BCM's [body control module] smaller plug [not the big blue one] instead of using the fuse panel near the driver's door. Why? I had nowhere to plug in a soldering iron outside my apt to make the connections, but I had plenty of quick splice connectors [those are a godsend- makes the job much easier].
I have only one thing left to figure out-- the alarm I bought seems to have only one small four-pin plug in the brain. Both my shock sensor and my motion sensor use four pin plugs, so I am assuming I have to decide which one to use. There are other connections to the brain for the valet switch, led, and one empty three pronged something.
Since I want to use the motion sensor, I need help setting it up. Right now, I have the wires running to the center console area. I don't know how to calibrate it correctly, or at what angle to mount it.
Can a normal person do this with no experience? Yes. But, it'll take you many, many hours. You need to be patient, have more supplies/tools than you actually need available, and be sorta creative. This job was much harder, scarier, and time consuming than anything I've done with a stereo system.
Thanks again for your help nda and others.
