  • subs.. should i jump on this?

a friend of mine has a pair of Kenwood Tornado 12" 600W subs.. KFC-W3003.. mounted in a box...

i havent seen them yet, i'll have pictures later tonight..

    he's offering them for $150...

now.. i've done a little research and basically what i've found is that when new these things went for $100 a piece not including the box. they are disconinued now though, and as for reviews.. generally they say they are good bang for the buck, sound great at lower volumes but they have distortion at higher volumes...

anybody able to find anything else about these subs...? i am as much of a newbie as you can get for mobile electonics or any kind of stereo system so i dont want to make a stupid blind buy and regret it later...

so should i jump on this deal or just buy new subs..

i still need to get an amp as well.. if i got these what would be a good amp? again they are 600W subs

i also still need to replace the stock speakers but thats another story

    thanks for the help

not exactly sure, but a quick browse of the reviews said they are 600W max and about 160W RMS

not a great sub or amp but it will add some bass. dont expect it to be really clear though, every system ive built with that sub has sounded terrible.

I looked up that model number on Ebay and a pair just sold for like $30. There is a single one on there with a couple days left..... the bid is about $8. I honestly don't think your friend is trying to rip you off, but he is none the less. I doubt the box is custom for the f-bodies, but if it was... it's worth about 5 times as much as the subs.lol :D
