    And then some of us crazy people just avoid using a head unit altogether and put a pc with a custom shell for xp as our radio.

      There is another cheaper way to get better quality on your HU from an external device (like an mp3 player, diskman or minidisc). It's an adapter that you can add to the stock radio and allows you to plug the external device through RCAs.

      There's a discussion on this right here. The guy setup an iPod.

      The adapter goes from $50-$70
