  • Box Help Fast!

i am building a new box tommorow and it will be 2.5 cu.ft. I am building it on the hump right behind my rear seats. Not in the hole. I was wondering if it would be better to port it out the front back or top?

Were in the same situation man, its going to be a pretty big box for 2.5 cubic feet huh? Mine is right over 1.0 cubic feet and it takes up mose of the space above the gas tank.

If i was you i would port it through the top, just my opinion though...

i came up with about 4 cubic ft before sub displacement.

What thickness of wood are you using?

keep in mind to calculate in the thickness of the wood, as it does add up...

fire the ports to the rear of the car for best response.

Yeah, that's why I had to ask. Don't know what subs he's running, but could be a pair of massive 12"s. Add in a large port and maybe those are outside demensions....just might be around 2.5...

Isn't there a "custom" box available already built that will hold a pair of either 10" or 12" drivers that are specifically designed to fit the Camaro and Firebird hatchbacks? Seems like I've seen them around. Maybe someone already has the specs for a 2x10 or 2x12 box. Cox if your box is only 11" high, you ain't putting 12" drivers in it. Unless the drivers mount firing upwards, I suppose.

I must admit, for such a big car I was horiffied to see the tiny space available under the rear hatch. I bought my son a box with a pair of 12" in it and the only place we could put it in the end was on the back seats.

my subs are firing at the hatch (up). And the ports are toward the back. it sounds good just have to do a little more tuning. Hoping to get it on a mic this wensday.
