That sub is only rated to 150WRMS. Your amp outputs 300WRMS@4ohms. Yes, while that is a good load match for your amp. Bridge the channels together and run at 4 ohms.... however, your amp may be a little large for that sub. Gonna depend on the box you have it in as to how much power it can handle before exceeding excursion limits.
perhaps that's why when I bought a audiobahn sub with a max of 300w, i blew it? Guess that could be the reason..
I hope i'm showing the right amp that i have.. because on a piece of paper that came with it.. it says the MAX power was 323watts or whatever... could u direct me to a good match?
BTW the box i have fits on the left little hatch in the trunk of our cars. Custom made and shaped weird but fits a 10 while not interfering with t-top storage. Thanks and let me know!

Alpine Type-R is a popular choice for the stealth box design. If you're looking for something a little cheaper, check out Kicker's CVR line. Still pretty decent. The Alpine will love that size box though. The CVR would preform better in a larger box. And yes, your amp is decent. Nothing wrong with it.
well.. i think a verdict is reached. I went to Best Buy and worked out to get this Rockford Fosgate P1 Sub. it only has 150w RMS.. but I was told to get the 8 ohm one.. so it's kinda like 300w rms? Plus I heard the sound will be pretty clear? Is the guy right on this? Thanks

From what I read, the P1 is not a dual voice coil sub, you have to step up to the P3 to get that.
No personal offense to you or anyone who works there, but I would take anything a Best Buy/Circuit City etc. salesperson says with a grain of salt.
If I understand what I read, the speaker can handle an 8 or 4 ohm load, with a max of 150W rms. I don't think your "theory" is going to work. Although I think RF is a good brand, that's the bottom line of their stuff, and as such probably isn't designed to handle lots of power.
How much did you pay for it?

Holy hell. This is why I strongly believe all employee's should have to take an exam before they're allowed to step foot on the sales floor. Damn man. He's screwing you. First off. The Rockford P1's have a single voice coil and 150WRMS rating. 8 or 4 ohms. 150WRMS is 150WRMS. Not kinda 300WRMS.... 150 and no more. Next, I can't believe he sold you an 8 ohm SVC sub. If you're planning an getting the most out of that amp, you'll need to bridge the channels together and give it a 4 ohm load. Obviously, you cannot do this with a single 8 ohm sub. THAT'S WHY he sold you the 8 ohm version!!! Because your amp will only output 150WRMS into an 8 ohm load. No, that sub will not pop under normal conditions..... because you're only using half your amp. You need to be looking for a 4 ohm single voice coil (SVC) or dual 2 or 8 ohm coils (DVC) sub. :(
i had a dual voice coil sub and didn't know how to work it !?! It had 2 sides of positive and negatives. Yes I was told that using a 150w sub with 8 ohms will give me less sound, but more clarity which is fine. He didn't tell me it'd sound better or louder, and yes I am aware that I would not be using my amp to my full potential. Perhaps that'll be down the road when I have more money. Nonetheless, the sub was free.. thanks girlfriend . But it cost 65 dollars for those interested. I think 150w sounds fine.. now I gotta replace every monsoon speaker.. grr. Anyway, quick question.. got everything installed but when I listen to the sub when the engine is on. I get a whining noise.. when the engine's off, but the battery is on.. it sounds fine. I'm guessing this is an alternator whine? Could it be because of the size wire i'm using? I think it's 14 gauge wire.. maybe 16.. not sure.
THANKS!

 use at least 10 guage for that AMP, i bet if you read the directions it says 8 AWG maybe 6AWG .
check your grounds and they should be the same as your power wire AWG
