I've got a 94 bird with the 10 speaker system (tape deck-sounded surprisingly good for a factory system), and i read somewhere that there's an amp for that system somewhere on the passenger side. Is that true? and if so, can I use it with my aftermarket hu? the cd player has an open set of RCAs if that is needed.

I'm not sure about the '94 setup, but I know the new Monsoon system has an amp wich I believe is 500 watts...so if yours is anywhere near that you should be able to use it no problem :-PCar: 1995 Camaro 3.4L V6<br />Mods: K&N FIPK,3 IN. v6maro - that "hump" in front of the passenger seat is for the catalytic converter, not the stereo.
If you are looking for the factory amp, try under or behind the dash, or maybe even the trunk.
A service manual might say, but anyone know for sure?16 years old with no car and big dreams...

I believe that the separate amp for the Monsoon systems is located back by the spare tire. I don't know what system was used in the earlier Pontiacs like yours, but I would check there too. Do you know for sure that the system used a stand alone amp?

no i don't know for sure if it's amped or not... but it sounded awefully good for a factory system so i'm assuming it had something. I'll try checking in the spare area and underneath the dash tomorrow. Thanks for the feedback everyone... but does anyone know for sure?
