Hey what's up man. I'm a commercial Pilot and I have a GPS nav system in my car. It's great, I can switch between ground and aviation mode. The best thing about it, if i go on vacation i can download very detailed maps and install them on the system itself and i know where every bank, school, resturant, etc are. Anway I'm babbling now so ill stop. http://www.garmin.com/products/gpsmap295/
As far so GPS software for a computer I'm not too sure that there is such a thing, You need the hardware to reviece the sat. signals. I could be wrong but I dont think there out there. If you have anymore questions email me at Magic1872@aol.com
Yeah, there is such a thing, only very few companies make them. The Earthmate is one of the few that are out there. I know u can also hook up a laptop to some of the garmin recievers, my friend has one, and he runs his laptop on it. Im just looking for an affordable GPS reciever that i can run through to my laptop and have a larger full color screen....and its very easy to download maps to a laptop

I stand corrected I wasn't aware that they made software for laptops, just though you needed a reciever and antenna things like that. Well, good luck dude and take a pic of it if/when you get it up and running I would like to see it.
