• Are my hopes to high?

I'm planning on gettting a jl 10w3, stealthbox from subthump, and a jl 250/1 (250rms). do you guy think this is a good combo? im hoping that it will hit hard. i want to be able to hear it outside the car. i wanna keep the space for my tops too. i want to have about as much bass as my buddy's car if not a little more.

my buddy has 2 audiobahn 12's in a box but he has a cheap 1000 watt 4ch amp. hes running them off 2 channels. so hes prob running 200-300 watts rms right? would my set up be better than this?

    (2) 12's will push a lot more air than a single 10'' will.

Dont get your hopes to high on beating your buddy.

Don't know anything about your buddy's box, but most likely.... you don't stand a chance. Check out the other boxes on subthump's website. Several other designs that will allow you to retain t-top storage.

Yes. 1 10w3 is not louder than 2 12's. I will stand by JL till the day I die, but they're not godly :D . If you got 2 10w3, you might be the same if not a little louder but the clarity will blow your friend's system out of the water.

Get the system for yourself though, not to beat your friend.

yup...2 12s will hit nicely...especially in bandpass boxes...check out my sig for my setup...the single 10" can be nice depending what you choose to run...i run a 10" 1100 watt sony xplod with a 1000 watt sony xplod amp...it hits clean and tight...good for rock and hardcore...which is mostly what i listen too..but its pretty good for rap and hip hop too..my other system (when i have it in the car) is what you'll see onmy home page...2 12" 1200 watt sony xplods to the same amp...that hits HARD..have fun!

well everyone will have their own opinion...and again it depends on the exact setup...but yeah i find that the smaller the sub..the tighter and punchier the bass is...really bring out the double bass drum in hardcore and rock...stuff life that...i find that larger subs hold out those long bass tunes better or just have a lower "thump"...i have 1 1000 watt amp going to 1 10" sub and it works great for me and my type of music...you just gotta make sure the sub can handle it

10's have a slightly quicker response than 12's giving them a better punch. i think they are better suited for rock and if that is really all you listen to then i would say to get 2 10's but if your music listening is a little more diverse than 12's are the best. they have a fairly quick response and can hit lower frequencies than the 10's. 15's are really only for rap imho. im going with 12's but i listen to bands like radiohead and pink-floyd but i also listen to a little eminem. i really think you should check out elemental design if you want a nice clear sounding system without breaking the bank.
