well recently the lights on my cd player have gone out....but i have one of them that has a face and then flips over and has the controls.. well if i leave it closed and start the car then the outside will light up and i just have to use the remote for it.. but if i open it the buttons on the inside face wont light up at all.. and if i close it after opening it the outside lights wont work either.. but i can turn off the car and turn it on again and the outside face will work again.. i was wondering if ya'll had any idea what might be the trouble behind this? thanks

contact sony, tell them ur having that problem, im sure they have heard of it...
see if they will give you any sort of replacement or warranty work for free...
if so, get rid of it.
if not, get rid of it, dont buy sony.
sorry man, i just have seen many of those decks come back, they are expensive but junk.*Matt

one other thing u may try...remove the radio, disconnect the harness from the back of it, take off that plastic trim peice that makes it look nice on the front, and leave it off.
reconnect the power, turn it on... see if it works, if so.. it may be that plastic trim peice is interfering with the little band under the faceplate, that supplies power to the faceplate from the radio..
that trim peice tends to interfere with that, during open and close, and that damages it alot.*Matt
