If anyone can find the acoustic specifications of the woofers I would be grateful...

Namely the Fs value in Hz, Qts from 0.00 to 0.60, and the Vas in Liters or cubic feet.

Im trying to find those values for the woofers but I guess they havent been released.

Also, the JL 8W6 was discontinued I have 3 of them I've tested that smoothly play from 300Hz down to 24Hz... rolling off at 20Hz -3dB. What a sweet speaker it was, when it was made... argh. Sounded beautiful in a 4th order chebvychev box too - dammit.

Oh well, yes the W7 looks good but too bad its SVC.

sounds like it's gonna be a bad-*** sub. pretty much anything that comes from JL in my opinion is awesome so i don't believe tis will be any different. really expensive tho.

The W7's, crazy loud machines. I heard a demo, they are impressive. Like a solobaric, they maximized cone area and air movement to make them louder. It is just deeper, deeper than it is around. That's the bad, you have to have tons of space to run them. Plus, they're power hungry and cost a fortune. I'll get the specs, we already have them in town.

duuuuuuude, if you have a chance, go to the nearest JL audio dealer (like Tweeter or someone) and ask them if they have a functioning W7 in a box. they are pretty sick for just a 10'' sub, and yes they require a sh*tload of box space for a ported encloser (anywhere from 1.0 to 1.5 cu. ft) imagine a sub that hits crystal clear, needs 500w RMS just to RUN it, and weights 25 pounds. can we say "bleeding ears" lol

I wouldn't exactly call them ear bleeders. They aren't that loud. They are made for SQ over SLP. They are loud, don't get me wrong, but they are crystal clear. If you want SPL go for the Solobarics. They are much cheaper, and they rock way louder. I've seen 144 db out of one S10L7 with a JL 500.1

this is true. I've been to many an SQ and SPL show and kickers have always rocked, especially L7's without a doubt. but you also have to take into consideration that no one has tested or even reviewed the JLaudio W7 that I know of. the only place I've seen anyone talk about them is CarSounds.com...here's the link http://www.carsound.com/news/archives/10_16_101_2.shtml and yet all they give are the specs and when they will be sold at retailers. so there really isnt any proof-positive that one is better than the other....yet, I say we hold off for another month or so so we can check out the competition scene and see if anyone is using them, plus to give reviewers and magazines a chance to test em

All I know is what I've heard. The W7 12 that I heard doesn't even compare in SPL with the Solos. It sounds great for SQ, but it costs 750 bucks. Not only that, but the 500.1 Jl mono block won't touch it's maximum excursion when it's maxed out. It takes the 1000.1 which isn't out yet. That or a BD 1500 or something. And also, they are being sold already. Want to hear one? Come to Sheridan.

do you remember what the w7 you heard was being pushed by? cause I know those b1tches are power hungry mo fo's lol the guy at Tweeter had the box built, ported, carpeted and everything and had an Alpine V12 MVR-T707 punching 600w into 1 channel...sounded nice as f*ck. a speaker is only as good as the signal and power thats going through it

Yeah, it was the JL 500.1 mono. It sounded good, but he has a single Solo ten that outputs 144.3 db; with the same amp. Trust me, it's one of the best amps on the market. I just wasn't as impressed as I thought I'd be.

You know, I don't like JL that much anymore... but this looks like a taker... me, I'd wait to see how it sounds with an amp that pushes 1-2k watts before I would judge this speaker.
And how the heck do they mount it???

There is a ring around the base of the Surround. It pops off like the seal on a milk jug. Then, you peel back the surround, and it exposes 12 screws. Have fun, it takes a while to mount and dismount. Especially if your at comp and only have a hand held screwdriver. But a positive to this route, if you slip with the screwdriver, you don't poke holes through the cone and surround.

Also, I finally heard the 12 W7 on 1500 watts. (RF bd power 1500.1 mono) Hmmmm....it sounds just like it did on the JL 500.1. I'm not impressed at all. I'm stickin with the solo's.

What's he running for an amp? Or amp's rather. Also, have him get it metered, it should be free at the shop he is having it installed at. Just curious on SPL output. If you hear, would you be willing to pass it on? I love the SQ of those subs, but they lag in SPL. Keep us informed would you?

Also, ported or sealed enclosure? Capacitors? Batteries? Alternator? Wiring? etc.
