• Any Troubleshooters Around?????

I have a 96 firebird with a Delco CD head unit. If you expose the head unit to direct sunlight you can read the display. With any amount of shade you cannot see anything like the radio stations ect. The head unit lights up the knobs and the buttons with headlights but still no display. The only time I am able to tell is if the sun hits the display just right. ANy ideas??????????????

A couple of weeks ago I remember seeing a radio exactly like that for sale on this website for something like $60. If it actually worked, I would probably just get it rather than waste my time troubleshooting the current one. Sounds like an LED display problem, but you probably knew that already...

Doesn't look like a monsoon radio to me [ I had one just like it and it was the regular optional one, not the monsoon ]. Do a search for "RPO codes" [I think that's the term], and it will say what the codes mean.

Please see our FAQ section in the modifications encyclopedia. Don't see any monsoon codes there.

No you do not.

Your stereo code is W53.

W53= AM/FM Stereo, Compact Disc w/EQ, 4-speaker system (coaxial).

its the bulb behind the display.
same thing happened to mine. I just got over it until i got a new radio
you would have to take off the entire front face and also it would be hard to find the right bulb (its and odd shape)
Too much trouble if you ask me.
