  • Installing sound liner, Fatmat PICTURES

I got my box of fatmat yesterday and emidiatly pulled my car apart pulling my trunk apart and my carpet out of my whole car and put my drivers seat back in for school. i managed to line most of my trunk. i had driven the car with no carpet in it befor i installed any liner. It was super loud. then i did the trunk and drive it again big diff. i got most my pass side done today again a huge difference its olmost as quiet as with the carpet it and i am only a little more then half way done. the FatMat was so easy to install i didn't need a heat gun or anything, just peal and stick. will be posting pictures and more infor when i am done.

Stil have to wipe all the blue off of it.

When it comes to sound dampening, nothing has a better rate then dynamat, but you are right you will pay for it also. If you are looking for a little quiet and a little kill rattle, about anything will work very noticably. I use dynamat extreme over everything and sometimes I double layer it. I have also use Tsunami which is sold at circuit city's and actually made by Metra, works great also.

Another option that you can do, and works great under the vehicle, is Ryno Mat.. You know the black stuff new trucks have their beds sprayed with... Well it works wonders under the car, and inside all the hard to get spots, I wouldn't recomend using it in high heat area's though or too much inside, because it is based a little differently, and you can pick up a smell off it. Infact under high heat I think the fumes are bad for you. So places like your rear and front bumper covers which tend to make alot of noise if you have a really kicken system isn't a bad idea.

i am using edead sound deadener it is 1.00 for 45 mil thick and 1.60 for 60 mil thick, and uhh dude dynamat is way overpriced compared to everything else and you are getting the same thing!! not better just the name!!!
btw just did some research and dynamat extreme is .067 vs. edead .060 so ehh u be the judge for the price

i am going to get another 50 feet here soon becouse the 100 feet missed a little. i think dytnamat is just name doulbe layer chaep stuff and it will work better then dynamat and still cost less. my car is convertibvle so i will never get it to quiet. the fat mat is on ebay it takes for ever for them to ship it but not to bat becouse its good easy to use.

Remember thickness means nothing. I have been a very avid car audio/video enthusiast for 10 years, I have been running my own company and building competition cars for 4 years. Nothing dampens better then Dynamat extreme! There is alot more science to it then how thick it is, like how fast it disperses the heat, and how much variation in density there is.

I never said it was the best bang for your buck, because it by far is not! It's highly overpriced, but if you want the BEST there is no option.

But like I said before any sound dampening will work, and make a very large difference. Honestly, I don't think without a mic and a scope you could even tell the difference between a cheaper brand and dynamat.

And also remember when you double layer the stuff in comparrison you about what double the weight of the stuff also? Well if you are talking about a whole car we are talking around 100lbs+ extra weight.

yes i will agree that dynamat does the best job or dampening sound but its just to expensive and it would take like 200sq ft or fatmat to =100lbs

So lets get this right, Dynamat is better as far as quality but you really cant tell unless you thouroughly compare it to the cheaper brands. Therefore, Fatmat or some other generic brand will do just fine if all you're looking to do is stop the rattlling and kill road noise. Right?
