Recently I had my LCD not light up in my 96 Firebird. I bought a replacement of eBay and wow same problem. I am in the process of returning the one on eBay, but did some research and contacted some delco repair shops and found out the part of the board that controls the lcd bulb is prone to going out. I had quotes from $75 - $90 to replace the board. Well Here is a quick fix. Since the ldc actually work but does not have a back light to make it visable I went to radio shack and picked up a pack of Midget 12v bulbs for $1.99. I soldered wires to the base and side contact of the bulb and removed the factory bulb and replaced with the midget bulb. I used a zip tie to secure it in place and feed the wires out the back of the radio. I then tapped in a positive accessory wire and a the other to the ground. Now it works perfect and it cost $2 bucks and about 30 minutes to remove repair and reinstall.
