  • Installing 6x9's

I don't have stock 6x9's. I have some nice pioneers from my last car. I'm just wondering now hard it is to cut the holes for them where they would be if they came stock.

Like... would I have to reinforce those panels... and splice the wires to make them longer to reach back there?

Stock I have 2 6.5's in the backseat

I would reconsider doing something like that. Those panels wayyy in the back of the hatch are very flimsy which would rattle or vibrate from 6x9's. You could also damage/overheat your head unit by hooking up the 6x9's to the 6.5's. Doing something like that would create a 2-ohm load.

I did that in my 2002 camaro. It works just fine none of the problems happened that he has talked about, but there is a problem. On the driver side in the rear the speaker is to deap, so the pannel kind of sits lifted up by a couple of inches, cause the magnet and all that good stuff is much bigger on a 6x9 than what came with the car, it is a little ghetto, but i like how it sounds. I am going to custom fab something in the next month or so when i get some time. Hope that helps.
