stocker system isn't enough

Well I figure it is now time to upgrade the stock system since I have started blowing speakers. I have a 95 bird with the 10 peice system. What are some good brands to look into? also I need something that I can still hear when my 2 12's are hitting, I can barely hear the stockers. Is upgrading the speakers only enough or do I need to put in an amp and redo the wiring too?

i would recomend a nice set of components up front that can handle about 100W rms of power. Both cdt and elemental design are great brands for this that have excelent SQ. I would also recomend an amp with a low THD level if you want your speakers to sound good (below .08% if possible). JL, Old Xtant, and Elemental Design are great amps for this application. infinity's are pretty good (i consider them upper mid level) and for the price they are hard to beat. if you really want the best sq bundled with great power handling get something else though.

well I am not in a spot to make a decision just yet. It will be a week or 2. I am kinda tired of just not having enough umph so I am willing to go all out. what will fill my need if something like the infinity's will not?

the stuff i mentioned in my other post is top notch. MB-Quats are nice and so are boston acoustics but i really love the sound of CDT and from what i understand the ED's are similar to the HD series from CDT (CDT helped them design the drivers and crossovers for ED). I have heard ED subs and my neighbor is using there mono amp and i am extemely impressed with there equipment. When i put my next system together i will be using all ED with an Eclipse HU. Infinity might work for you but i like to have the cleanest signal possible when i turn up the volume and infinity just doesnt do it for me. I put together an all infinity system for a friend who had a sunfire. He used an Xtant X603 to run everything and it was "good" but not great. The amp was awsome but his kappa speakers would lose a little when the volume was turned up. the Infinity kappa 12dvc at 2ohms held its own but i have heard better.

the infinty REF are but if you spend the the monye on ht Kappa perfects or Perfects, i have yet to hear anything play as lound and sound as clear as the Infinty Perfects [img]smile.gif[/img]
IMO Infinty are the best tweater/mid range speakers... there subs are really good too but other brands hit but infintys don't distort as bad.... also infinty is the only brand i have ever seen with smoke rolling out of the voice coild and they still work/sound great...... ehh don't ask how i know!
i have yet to hear the infinty perfect DVQ sube though... i know they have to be good lol

It amazes me how people can compare infinties to CDT's. I'd say get yourself some CDT cl-61a's and a nice amp to push them.

Good to see you again Freeser. that is probably because they havent heard the awesome power that is CDT :D . for the CDT's check www.thezeb.com they have had a sale on the CL-61a's for quite some time. check ebay for an Xtant 2200ix amp (dont spend more than 200 for it) or get the ED 2ch amp from their site to push either the CDT's or ED components. Pheonix Gold makes nice amps too so you could look them up. www.edesignaudio.com is ED's main page. The kappa perfects are really way overpriced for what you get imho but if you want a name that most people know of then get them. I dont have any specific links to the other brand but if you search the net you should find some places to buy them. Most high end audio stores carry them if you have any near you.

HAHA! that statement alone says what you know about high end car audio. Go to www.elitecaraudio.com and read up on them or do a search here. if you ever hear them you will quickly change your mind about infinity. I use to thik infinity was great then i heard real high end components and i changed my opinions.

i see why now..... no way in hell im spening 800-1500 on on set 6 1/2 componets !!!!! dang that crazy

BUT they are yellow and black [img]tongue.gif[/img] they get point there.
when i want to to spend 15,000 on a audio system i would look there way lol

I got my CDT es-620's for 350 shipped with a 5 year warranty. You just gotta know how to shop. What about focal's, they have very nice set of comp speakers.

I have had both CDT's and Kappa's and there is no comparison between the two, the CDT's blow them out of the water.
