These fascinate me for some reason... I think I'd like to have one. Does anyone have one in their F-bod? I know it's more practical in a truck but... I want one and I don't have a truck, so I think I want to put one in my Camaro. :D
Anyone know what it takes and could gimme some advice?

I have a Jensen JP30 300 Watt Power Inverter. It was an impulse buy. I never really use it. Never did. You can plug it into cig lighter or cut that part off and wire it to the battary.
Look on the back of appliences to see how much watts they take to get an idea of how much power you need.

That's pretty cool... Link below is to a 400 Watt inverter. Probably wouldnt use it much if I got it, maybe on long road trips for w/the laptop and digicam.

Oh, and make sure your cars running while you use it. It can suck your battery dry real quick.
Iv found things like little lamps (60watt reading lamp) dont work well, Its too much of a strain to pull that many watts non stop.
Most eletronics are about 5-20 watts. It should be labled on every device. And on transformors like laptop wall charger things. Its great for PC's. Actually i remember now why i got it. I wanted to take my old comp and put it in my trunk and make it an MP3 player. then i said screw it and bought a HU that plays mp3s

Yeah I kinda have my laptop in mind. I'm reminded that it'd be more practical, especially w/a playstation, in a vehicle with more passenger room. My laptop battery is crappy, so in order to watch a movie it really needs to be plugged in. That'd be good for my navigator on long stretches of highway, I guess.
do they have one that just changes the cig. lighter into a plug?? I don't smoke and having it there would be handy with out all the mess
All of them have a cig. adapter on them, so it would be perfect for you. To hardwire, you just cut off the cig. adapter and put the + wire to a hot wire and - to ground. (of course) ;)
