Are the KAPPA 63.5I 6-1/2" 3-way Speakers any good and will they fit in my car?

those should fit,

but i had bad experience with those speakers, i had the 2 ways and i blew out the tweeter the same week i installed them.

I sent them in for warantee, and got them replaced, i was breaking in the replacement speakers i had received and i was listening like at 20% volume when the tweeter blows out AGAIN after this i ripped them out and their somewhere up in my attic, the mid works its just the tweet thats broke.

What kind of power did you have going to them?

The stock headunit in rms? I dont know the number, its somwhere between 7-10 watts rms per channel. The biggest upgrade to your sound would be a new headunit.

And CAMAROWITDABASS, that is incredible, you are the first person I have ever heard say anything bad about the infinity kappa line. Guess the warranty was a good idea there. Sorry to hear that.

Mine the tweeter was way bright until I broke in the midbass driver to catch up. I couldn't have been happier with them.

I've been running the Infinity Kappa 3-ways since 97. Yeah, that's right, the same door speakers since 1997 and they sound just as good as the day I got them. I've got two pair and I put 50 watts RMS to them and they loved it. At max power they just barely began to distort and I mean just barely. But I sometimes wonder if it was the amp getting a little sloppy. It was an older Sony (before that Xplod crap came out) with external Xovers. I liked it but it got stolen last month and I'm replacing it with a Kenwood eXcelon 501F. It's also 4x50 watts RMS but I expect it to play much cleaner.

I'll try to repost when I get it all put back in. That'll probably be after Christmas.

Sorry for the long post but I swear by Infinity/JBL products. I also ran a Kappa 12 inch sub that same period of time that sounded fantastic. Clean, accurate, and loud if I wanted it. I'm replacing it with a Infinity Perfect10.

Good luck!!

I'm glad to hear something good about the kappa.. I have always thought that they were good.. but CAMAROWIDBASS had me worried for a second till I started reading about his setup.. as for the head unit.. I'm just looking to replace my blown stock speakers.

Yeah replace your head unit before you put those Kappa's in I ruined my first set of Kappa's with my Monsoon head unit when I first got my car. Good thing Brandsmart had a no questions asked 1 year return policy on speakers. The stock monsoon head unit and amp combo has some strange impedance requirements that will occasionally ruin aftermarket speakers.

Nope no Monsoon system, just your basic system

so the mounting depth of 2-3/16" isn't going to be a problem on the front and rear?

i have the 63.5i in my backseats for midrange. for your front doors i would recommend the 60.5cs (6-1/2 kappa components), the combo sounds great, and you definately want components in the front doors for your highs
i've had these speakers in about 8 months now running off my kenwood deck and never had a problem
