The stock speakers ( front and rear ) are 6.5". The hatch speakers ( which there is no reason to replace, I just unhooked them ) are 4" I think. If I remember right the stock rear speakers were 6 ohm, so any 4 ohm speakers should work without any problem. The fronts are a little different. They are technically component speakers with a tweeter and a woofer. The tweeter and woofer each have their own + and - signals. If you are just changing the speakers and not the amp or headunit then you *might* try splicing the two + together and the two - together. This really isnt that good of an idea, but there is an internal crossover in the monsoon amp so you wouldnt get any high end from the new speaker if you jsut plugged it into the woofer side. If you are going to replace all the speakers, why not buy a half-way decent amp. It would help the sound a lot. Also, a good headunit will make it sound like a different system...
But i degress... You should be fine with some good 6.5" speakers. In the front it would be a better idea to go ahead and buy a componet system that has a seperate tweeter.
I have rockford 6.5" in the rear, rockford 6.5" componets in the front, MTX 6000 sub, all pushed by a Orion 5 ch amp.
