  • Monsoon replacement project questions

First off here is some background on my vehicle.
2001 camaro w/the monsoon system. Looking at ripping out the entire monsoon system and replacing it with all after market. I was already givin a few parts to start out with.
Front door speakers kenwood KFC1689ie 3ways
    B-Pillar speakers kenwood KFC1679ie 2ways
amp to power front door and b-pillar speakers kenwood KAC6401.
First question is what would you guys recommend for a HU to complete the parts that I already have?
Second question is would the amp be enough for the door and b-pillar speakers or should I sell the amp and move up to a bigger amp for the kenwood speakers I already have? Next question should I replace the rear hatch speakers before adding subs or just forget about the rear hatch speakers and put in subs and another amp? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

For the headunit, I would go with a direct-fit Pioneer, because I have owned 2 of them in 2 different cars, and both have performed wonderfully with no problems whatsoever. I have the DEH-77DH. A word of advice on speakers.........get rid of those coaxial speakers and get yourself some components. It might be a little trouble and a little extra money since you already have the others, but it's well worth it. I did the same thing. Then I sold the ones I had and got some components, because the layout for the speakers is designed for them anyway. Besides, they sound sooooooooo much better. Just make sure you get some really kick-*** components up front. To illustrate, here's the setup I installed a couple of weeks ago: A Rockford Fosgate 6 3/4" Fanatic X component system up front, Sony Xplod 6.5" components (woofers only) in the pillars, and a 4" Pioneer component set in the rear deck. ALL of these are run from a 85W X 4 @ 4 ohms amp, and it sounds great. It thumps like I've got an 8" woofer or two hidden in the back, just from replacing the factory stuff. I plan on adding a couple of 10" subs later on as funds become more abundant. Hope this helps.
