• To all waiting for the FAQ thread ----------

I'm afraid it's not going to happen. :( This message board does not utilize the "sticky" feature, so our oh-so-helpful thread would soon get lost among the rest. Sorry guys. :( I've been thinking of ways to get around this, and have got a few ideas. Maybe I can get a link posted inbetween your logged in screen name and the list of topics..... similar to the "intake/exhaust" section...... hmmmm, I'll keep at it guys.

How about just another page on the site, like the Modification page or something like that?

maybe you can talk stefan into putting a link somewhere, like at the top of the stereo/electronics page.

you could just create the post and move it to the technical archive.

The Technical Archive is kinda an all around FAQ forum. Which is good, but I want to have a link right on the stereo and electronics page where all the newer guys can clearly see it. You and I both know that people RARELY visit the technical archive.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Just wanted everyone to know that I'm working on it.

How about an article in the technical archive with a link at the top of the page pointing to it?

(hows that for a combination of good ideas? :D

Hey guys, I rarely check this forum but 96firebird311 just e-mailed me about it. Here's an idea on how to get a good FAQ online.

Go to:

http://mods.firebirdv6.com/nitrous.html

James (12secondv6) actually wrote that article, I just coded it into HTML because he's worthless at programming. If you guys want to compile a list of FAQ's and then put them in a document format I'll make a Stereo/Electronics section of the Modifications Encyclopedia. It'll have the same formatting as the nitrous guide. Better yet, if someone here knows HTML and wants to volunteer, you could copy the template of the nitrous guide (right click it, hit "view source", open the source with Notepad, then hit "save as" and call it stereo.html and edit away). I'd be happy to upload whatever you guys come up with and then add a link at the top of this forum.

96firebird311--I'm assigning you in charge of this project. Just e-mail me whenever you guys are done and I'll take it from there. Whoever contributes will, of course, get credit on that page.

Glad to see you guys getting involved!

Aight guys! You heard the man! Let's start compiling a list of diagrams and questions that you would like answered. After everyone has posted, I will add my info and helpful links to the page and convert them all into a single document and send it to Stefen. So let's get started! Who's first?

When I did my first system it was helpful to see diagrams of stuff wired in different configurations and the OHM loads created. Series vs. Parallel with an 8-Ohm load and what the resulting load would equate to, etc.. Heh, it helped me.....

A thing about led's and resistors would be nice.
basic wiring tips
box types/designs

A thing about stock replacements like "where is the monsoon amp", "what size are the factory speakers" etc. I know this stuff is probably in the encycolpedia, but putting it in this article couldn't hurt.

How about information like:

-what all the different terms, numbers and abbreviations mean (RMS, x4, X2, ohms, watts, cap, etc)

-links to popular vendors (ebay, ikesound, thezeb, subthump, etc) and specific items.

-a word about soundproofing and the benefits

-Some coverage of controverisal topics like "is a cap useful" etc

-Some talk about batteries and alternator and which are best for the required results

just some more idea's I've had...

PS: the above link didn't work for IKE
