• Help With Wiring

Got my Alpine 9815 today, but have no quick connect. Can anyone tell me the color codes for each wire? There are like 2 yellows, 2 tans, and greys :(

Speaker wires are normally paired together on the wiring harness. Meaning they usually use pins that are right next to or on top of each other. So the yellow next to the brown would be for the LR and the other yellow would be for the Ign.

If you are talkin about the wiring harness you get that you plug the stock GM one into, id suggest getting it, and not f-in up your stock wires.

but if you must:

Headunit wiring harness
Pin#............Color.................Function
1......................Grey....................... .Front Left Speaker -
2......................Tan........................ ..Front Left Speaker +
3......................Dark Green.............Front Right Speaker -
4......................Light Green.............Front Right Speaker +
5......................Black .....................Ground
6......................Brown.....................I llumination
7......................Grey....................... .Dimmer
8......................Pink....................... ....Power Antenna
9......................Yellow..................... 12V Ignition
10....................Orange....................12 V Constant
11.....................NA......................... ..NA
12.....................NA......................... ..NA
13.....................NA......................... ..NA
14....................Dark Blue................Steering Wheel Controls
17....................Light Blue............... Right Rear Speaker -
18....................Dark Blue................Right Rear Speaker +
19....................Yellow.....................L eft Rear Speaker -
20....................Brown......................L eft Rear Speaker +

well, the speaker yellow will most likely be thinner. the thicker yellow will probably be thicker and clustered with the thicker orange and black wires.

as for the gray, i dunno.

easiest way to tell which gray goes to the speaker is as follows:
cut the gray you think is the one for the speaker, and cut the negative to that speaker as well. strip the ends. put the negative on the "-" terminal of a 9V battery. tap the grey wire on the "+" of the 9V. the speaker will make a noise if you have the correct grey wire. dont worry, the noise will sound weird, but it wont hurt the speaker at all.

but id still suggest getting the actual wiring harness for it. makes things much easier.

Ok, The old CD player I had in there had the Quick Connect adapter, so i can use the same one can't I? Just splice the wire and soder it together and tape it up, then just quick connect it.

It recommended at 10 gauge wire straight from the battery so before i got the CD player, i routed a 10 guage wire with an inline fuse about 10 in. from the battery. Once i opened up the CD player, the Power Block already has a fuse in it, so will running 2 fuses cause any problems?

Just cut off the old connection and wire it up color to color. Piece of cake. ;)

No, having two fuses will not affect anything. You only need to hook up the 10g power wire if you plan on using the headunit's internal amp. If you are using all aftermarket amps, then bypass that step. And I remember you have atleast a subwoofer. How's the Tempest been treatin you anyway?

Ahh the Tempest is a work of art I love it!

I plan on using the internal amp of the HU, so I already ran the extra 10g wire. I guess today i'll just go and hook up the connector, but that still leaves me the problem with what brown to brown / grey to grey.
