I'm trying to install the tweeters from my Focal Polykevlar 165K2s into the triangular mirror pods and I'm having trouble getting them to fit. Those little screws that hold on the side view mirrors are getting in the way.

I assume I need to angle the tweets towards me, right? If I flush mount them they point against in side of the dash.

I was wondering, for sound quality and imaging, would I be better off mounting them in the dash and having them reflect off of the glass? Wouls they image better since they are farther away? Does bouncing off the glass change the quality?

I don't want kick panels and I don't want to hack up my doors. What do you guys think? Fight and get them in the mirror pods, or put them in the dash?

There is a third option. You can make mounting brackets that fit over the driver so that is resemblesa 2 or 3 way speaker. It's not that hard, I had a tutorial somewhere....

Look down the page about halfway, there are instuctions to make the mounting bracket for mounting Components in stock location:

    Band Director's site

If you don't want to mess with all that then I say put them in the mirror pods!! If you mount them in the dash you will have all sorts of imaging problems, it's best to have them aiming towards you.

But then aren't you shooting your highs at your feet? I know you can angle them up, but does it sound good?

It sounds fine, just angle them up and toward you're ears. If you want to find out yourself, just use some tape to hold them down near the speaker or something and see how it sounds. Keep moving around it until you find a place that you like!

Personally, I prefer to keep the mids and highs all close together as possible!

BTW - How much power are you feeding those Focals? What kind of amp?

That's plenty of power for those, you'll be able to hear just fine from the stock speaker locations!

i mounted mine on the arm rest up by the power window buttons at the very top. I had mine down by where the factory speakers are, but that's not a good place for them, especially if you have someone riding in the car with you, high frequencies are very easy to block, so if their leg was in the way, the whole frequency range from that tweeter was inaudible/ or muffeled. I am much more happy with them higher on the door. I used to have mine on the "triangle" piece you are talking about, but i had problems with the triangle piece breaking on the driver side because of the cable controled mirror.
