  • New use for the ashtray...

    Alright, I'm not a huge stereo thumper or anything, so if you expect to see something hardcore here you'll be disappointed. [img]smile.gif[/img]
    I bought my car used, and the previous owner had installed a 6 disc cd changer. There was no real head unit, but a little display was mounted rather awkwardly on the shifting bezel.
    I'm not a smoker, so I found a bit of a better way to set it up. I thought I'd post it here for anyone in a similar situation.

    Hey, that's pretty cool. I wish I could do something like that but the cigarette lighter (in use for my radar detector) is in the ashtray.

          Hey 91Firebird, how does your radar pick things up when its in the ashtray? I thought it needed to be in the window.

            And BigEd... I think he means he plugs the radar into the lighter, although that's just a guess on my part.

                    altho i have a beretta ill ask this question for those experianced in this area ... how hard to you think it would be to fabricate a pod to put in place of an ash tray for like fog light/neons/other things buttons?

                      Yeah, I just meant that I had to plug my radar detector into the lighter in the ashtray. I guess the cigarette lighter is set up in a different place than in 4th gens. Here's what I mean:
