Fuses

My amp is a kicker ix-405d, (its a 4 channel + a class d sub amp in one unit) It has two 30 amp fuses in it.

Does this means I want to put a 30 amp fuse by the battery or a 60 amp fuse. This is the only amp I'm running.

The best approach is to have 2 fuses. 1 fused for the wire and only the wire, as close to the battery as possible, and the 2nd fused for the amp close to the amp. The purpose of the wire fuse is to protect the car from melting wire in the event of an accidential ground.

If the only thing you have and ever will have on that wire, the amp fuse will be ok at the battery point.
