        ^^^ LOL, a fire can happen from many things at a gas pump but, static is not one of them.
        why couldn't static be one of them? Static is a discharge of electrons to a ground. Electrons = electricity. kinda like a spark, a spark ignites fires. [img]graemlins/popcorn.gif[/img]

            If your still getting shocked it can be from several reasons, but if you hold your key and touch something metal then the discharge will be from the key to the metal. This should solve your problems of getting shocked, if it is static electricity.

The static sparks normaly doesn't have enough energy to ignite the vapors of gasoline because their is a very small amount of it their.

                Small amount of vapors? Or small amount of electrical shock? Don't under estimate the power of static electricity....
