If i went with one more w3 then i'd still have an open hole for another sub, adding another 2 to the current 1 I've got. 500/1 is 500 RMS to 3 subs so thats 166 watts to each sub. Any idea what I'm getting to my single 10 now? I guess its 125 being a 1200w 5 channel so 250 peak and 125 rms? Being that its a small jump in wattage between the 2 would there be a difference between 3 subs at 166 vs 1 at 125, or am I just retarded for asking that question

Ok, sorry firefighter, but I'm gonna have to cast my ballot against the 500/1. Yes, JL makes outstanding amps. No doubt. Wouldn't hesitate using them myself. However, it's just not necessary in an install such as this. The guy has a limited budget and we should be getting him the best bang for the buck. The 500/1 is at the very cheapest $375. Add that to the two additional W3v2's are you're well over $600. A couple of amps that have recently been mentioned on here are: http://www.ikesound.com/product-product_id/2424 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...750270740&rd=1
Both should give you more power then the 500/1, but your not paying for the JL badge on the front of it.
I'm a PPI fan myself, there great amps and I recently had to send one back to the factory because tof the guy I bought it from smoked it. There remanufactored amps are a great deal and a steal.

I agree about the price, never even thought of that. I love my 500/1. Those other amps listed are not going to sound as good but, they will put out more power.
I would rather have a clean 500 watts then 1500 watts that sounds like poo.

Alt space, don't worry. Although there is a small amount of truth to this, you're not going to notice a difference. I'd still put JL in the same catagory as the above mentioned amps.
*dodges chair thrown by firefighter*
Both are better then your flea market brands (Pyle, Pyramid, Rockwood), but neither can keep up with your top end SQ amps. (Brax, Helix, Arc)
If the hifonics amp sounds about the same as mine, I am going to sell the 500/1 then. I have already listed my w7 for sale because I put my fiancee's box in my car and its louder and hits harder than the w7 and was a lot cheaper.
I am not going to throw anything at you lol, I respect you and what you know about car audio and I know you do the same.

Just call me Alt ;) so then hifonics would be the way to go. Question about wiring the subs VC's, do I have to run a line from the single sub to the box of 2 or not. Don't know if thats a dumb question or not, so I read the mod encyclopedia again and got more confused. Any tips firebird? or firefighter?
paralle wiring is + to + and - to -. Series is + to - on one coil and the others are wired to an amp.
So a dual 4 ohm sub wired in parralle would be + from the amp to the + on the sub, then take that + to the other + on the sub. Then take the - from the amp to the first - coil on the sub then to the second.
^^ This would be an 2 ohm load.
A dual 4 ohm sub in series would be + on the amp to the first + on the sub. then the - on the amp to the first - on the sub. now you are left with a + and a - on the sub, wire those together so it would be + to -.
^^ This would be an 8 ohm load.
I know it sounds confuseing but, its not really and it would be easier to follow with a pic. If I cant find one I will draw one up tomorrow.

So then I'd want to wire my voice coils in series and wire the subs in parallel. I think a picture would do me well, if you could incorperate something more to the effect of a physical diagram to accompany the wiring diagram I believe I would be set. I can only read a wiring diagram so far to put everything together, then I can only use it to troubleshoot big chillers and stuff at work. You guys have been great in helping me with this problem, I think I should start ebaying...
