see if you can get the wire colors online somewhere first. but heres what it normally is.

    red- constant power
    yellow - ign. power
    black - ground
pink - beats the hell out of me

and the other colors are the speaker wires. just use trial and error to find out which ones do which.

You can find wiring diagrams online most of the time. What model CD player is it? Pink could be illumination wire.....or power antenna wire....

If you are unable to find a wiring diagram online, maybe go to a store and open one of thier boxes and look for it.hehehehehe :D Also, most companies use the same wiring scheme for all their headunits, so if the headunit you have is very old and is not made anymore, you could probably use the diagram off a similar unit made by the same company.

If all else fails, get yourself a multimeter or at the very least a test light. Hook up all the other wires and turn the unit on and off. Look to see when the pink wire is hot. That should give you a pretty good guess of it's purpose.
