this has been gone over before, try searching...

but, you heard it from me. the ONLY detector that i would actually trust speeding with and actually trust to save me would be the Valentine 1. They are still like $380-$400, even on ebay. And if that tells you anything, if a product sucks, its price drops way down on ebay. This product does not suck.

in fact, i saw a VW GTI that had one today on my way home from school, and followed him doing 85-90 for about 100 miles. the one cop it picked up was on the other side of the road, and we had about 1/3 of a mile warning, and he was around a corner also.

the thing is plain sick. but you have to ask yourself this: "damn $400 is a lot to spend. but after the $130 ticket, and the insurance raise, wont it pay for itself if it saves me just once?"

yes. oh yea, despite some of the things you may read on detetortest.com, the valentine is the absolute best.

i dont really care what their "test course" results were, ive seen the V1 in action on the road, and it friggin rocks.

400$? you could get like 4 tickets for the price of that detector.

Big Tymer, I have no radar detector and havnt gotten a ticket in 2 years. I speed al the time too, whats your point?

His point is Valentine One saved his *** for two years..

What kind of dumb question is that..

How do you know the radar detector is what "saved his *** " when 2 people posting here have had the same result without a detector?

I make eye contact with cops when I pass them 20mph over the limit. They just dont come after me and I have no idea why but its not cause I have a radar detector.

Anyways my point was originally that it may be cheaper in the long run to not buy a radar detector.

1 speeding ticket in PA is like $105-150 bucks. Your insurance will probably go up $250 a year if not more, esp for your first ticket.

right there, if the V1 saves you once, its paid for itself.

I've got a Bel-140; excellent machine. I'm sure the V1 is better but, mine only cost $150 and it picks up cops over hills, around corners and behind me pretty well.

Every review I have ever seen says the Escort Passport 8500 blows the Valentine One out of the water. It is also about $100 dollars cheaper.

Don't let those people that have been sucked into the V1 cult convince you otherwise The Escort Passport 8500 is the best radar detector out there.
