• Amp Turning On and Off

I got my car back today after getting a new waterpump and turned up the stereo and the amp kept turning on and off. It only happened when the volume was turned up a little past half. The amp kept switching back and forth to protect mode. Any ideas???

I think my mechanic unhooked my alternator today to test it out, could this have done anything to it? Could it be a bad alternator?

    Thanks,

Check your amp's owners manual and see what kind of protection it has. I wouldn't think low impedence would be the cause, because you didn't re-wire your subs....obviously. Maybe low voltage? If your ground isin't 100% it could be starving your amp. Thermal protection maybe? Alt being bad? Are you having problems starting your car? If not, the alt. must be good...... check the manual and get back to us.

I found it guys! One of the speaker wires was touching the chassis. Taped it up, and voila, amp is back together.

Thanks for your help as usual!!!!
