  • Infinity speakers and stock everything else?

I've been looking at these speakers for a while, but I just want clearer sound. It doesn't need to be extremely loud. I know I should get an amp, but to stick with the stock HU for now would these be much of an improvement by themselves?

they will def. improve sound a lot. but here is something else to consider.

when i got my car, there was an older JBL amp in the back powering my 4 speakers. it sounded great, and i thought the speakers were aftermarket also.

    NOPE!

stock speakers, i believe the amp is 40w x 4, and it sounds pretty damn good! shakes all my mirrors on the occasional rap song!

    ...just something to consider.

Infinity makes great speakers. They would definitley be an improvement over stock. I would suggest going with a set of components however, especially for the front.

If you have the Monsoon system, u will NEED to change the head unit and not use the Monsoon amp. They are going on 2 OHMS and those speakers are meant for 4 OHMs. You'll probably end up screwing those speakers up pretty quickly.

i have those in my doors-replaced the stock speakers with those-but i also replaced the head unit at the same time. All i can say is that they are definitely clear, but not a lot of bass or midrange especially in the door. But i think that may be a result of my head unit--but my whole car is infinity (alpine headunit) and i love how clear the highs are--im just disappointed with the mid range--i have subs so all i hear is lows and highs

I have the base system. I know about the problems with changing speakers in the Monsoon system.

I don't have time to install them this week, but after things settle down next week I might pick them up. I get them for $64 a pair, so it's not like I'm paying $200 for just speakers.
