I got this just today. I am wondering though, should i just replace my factory speakers w/ new, higher power ones, or just get a pair of subs and do that?

I did the speakers first, but many people think bass is more important. If it's a 600 Watt amp, then that would probably be best suited for sub duty, IMHO.

75 bucks from a friend. he owed me a few favors. he was gonna sell it for 110. BTW, i am looking at keeping my stock head unit for now, will this interfere w/ anything at all?

nope, i just have the 100 watt system. besides it costing me less when i got it, i can put in one of those 6-point roll cages w/o taking anything out.
