  • Problems with factory alarm...

I need some help figuring out where to start looking for the problem.. Some friends have told me it might be a short circuit somewhere which is definately possible, but I don't know where the best place is to start looking..

The other day I had to jump my car (I had sat in it listening to the radio in a parking lot but I kept starting it every few minutes to make sure I didn't run down the battery.. So I don't know if that was the cause or not). Anyway, the next time I got out and locked it with the remote, the alarm kept going off for no reason.. It would go off and after you hit the panic button to stop it, about 10 seconds later it would start again.. It's been doing this for a few days now, so I have to lock it manually.. If I hit the lock button in the car it's usually OK, so this is what I've been doing to keep my alarm on.. But a couple times I've had to actually push the lever in on each door and not arm the alarm.

So any ideas as to the cause and the best place to start looking?

If worst comes to worst, I've been thinking of getting a new security system for it anyway, I just haven't figured out which one yet...

I had a problem similar to that. It would go off for no reason sometimes. It ended up being the crankshaft sensor that fixed it. It was like 100$ to get fixed. Could be something else wrong though
