  • Infinity Reference or Alpine Type S 6.5s?

I think I might be getting a set today, but I noticed the Alpines are listed as 6.75" speakers so they would fit better. They're around the same price, but which ones would sound better with a stock HU? Going by the reviews it looks like the Alpines have better bass, but their frequency response is listed as 35Hz-30kHz and the Infinitys are listed as 53Hz - 21kHz. Does the larger frequency response range mean anything?

    These Alpines? http://www.circuitcity.com/detail.jsp?c=1&b=g&catoid=-8868&qp=016143322&b ookmark=bookmark_2&oid=68327

    Or these Infinitys? http://www.circuitcity.com/detail.jsp?c=1&b=g&catoid=-8868&qp=016143322&b ookmark=bookmark_6&oid=67918

if you are just going for a decent speaker the alpine is fine. it hits lower and higher but if you add a set of infinity kappa 6.5 components i would go with the infinity's for a clarity standpoint (alpine is clear but not infinity clear even with the type r's). also go to ikesound and save some money.

Or better yet, spend a little extra cash and go with component speakers. I redid my whole factory system with components using all the factory locations, so I have the same 10-speaker setup with all 10 runnning from a single 4-channel amp. Besides, components sound sooooo much better.........

If you decide to go with components, email me and I'll tell you my setup to use as an example.

I bought the Infinitys yesterday. They sound so much better than stock. I paid $64 a pair because I work at Circuit City, so it was better to just get them there.

good choice. if you ever add a sub go with infinity as well. a kappa or kappa perfect would add some nice clear bass for a decent price, especially since you work a c.s.
