  • 1500$ what to do.

besides give it to you...lmao...well im going to have like 1k to upgrade my stock monsoon system what should i do? i have a sony xplode head unit here i bought for 300$ some. what else should i get. firebird of course.

Topic says $1500, post says $1k. Does that $1500 include the headunit or something?

Number one question is how much bass are you looking for? Single 10" sealed? Pair of 12" vented?

Number two is do you plan to make the box yourself? Or purchase a pre-fab from subthump.com out of that $1500?

1k total right now. im looking for alot of bass going to be mostly rap played...as much as i can get. im thinking pair of 12's vented. and include the boxs from subthump.com into the 1k as well. I really want to prep the sound system, what size wire is run through the car and what should be ran through? is the stock good enough?

I am assuming you are talking about the stock speaker wire, Its very small but, if you are not amping the regular speakers then, bigger speaker wire isn't going to help much.

If you want a lot of bass for $1000 get a vented box for 2 12'' solobarics, 2 12'' kicker solobarics l5 or l7(dual 4 ohms) and a hifonics bx1500d (1500watt x1 @1ohm). That should hit hard for the money.

Upgrading from the 1500 watt amp? If so make sure you use 0/1 wire.

Oh Fudge! Just checked out subthump.com and it appears as if they have halted on making the deep well boxes for awhile. Megabass? Well that sucks. You're not porting two L7's any other way....other then making the box yourself that is. ;)

What do you mean by upgrading? Can't see you wanting much more then dual 12" L7s ported with 1.5WRMS pumpin em'. Should be closing in on the 150 mark with that. The only thing I could see you doing is maybe throwing a bx1500d on each....but you better be thinking H/O alt to say the least.

Sounds like you're looking to do some serious sounds. Sooner or later. I'd go ahead and run 1/0awg to save you the money/trouble later. 4awg would indeed be fine for now, but any more and a wire upgrade would be a must. Check out a local welding shop for sweet deals on 1/0.

Thought about your other speakers? That's a hell of a lot of bass. Including box, subs and sub amp you're looking at about $750. Doesn't leave much for components... let alone wiring. And if you don't add another amp for your components, no real need to upgrade speaker wire.

Oops. In my haste searching Ebay during my last post, I figured $250 for a pair of L7's. Damn near every s12l7 on there is refurbished! A new pair is $400! Unless you're going to spend the entire $1k on the subs and wiring, you might think about the S12L5's. Or you MIGHT be able to find a deal on the 03' models of both. Either of them paired with a Hifonics BX1500D would be nice. I can't remember how much the vented box from subthump was. $275?

For wiring you'll need two battery terminals similar to these as well as a distribution block that splits 1/0awg into atleast one 4awg for the bx1500d. Like this one. You'll need a set of interconnects from the headunit to the amp. Any small wire to connect the amp's remote turnon. ($1.99) And most importantly, don't forget a fuse as close to the battery as possible.

                    ok, if u want loud...
custom fiberglass box (100 if u make it, about 300 if its made by someone else)

1 15 (DD 9515 can be found for under 300 used)

                    about 500 for a 2000 watt amp

                    0 gauge wire- 30, ebay

                    HO alt- 300

some new comps for the doors- 200
                    amp for those comps- 1-200

u dont necessarily have to do all that, but that would be a great system (and would be loud as hell)

this is what i plan on doing in a year or so

but... u better make it go faster first... cause the system can get very heavy

^^^And how did you figure that to be a 1000 bux or under?

The kicker setup would be louder and cost a lot less.

the DD would be louder, and he said in his title under 1500, and all that stuff can be had for cheaper if u shop around...

and, you can definately get 1 DD 15 for less than 2 l7's

1 15'' DD isn't going to be louder than 2 12'' L7's in a vented box even if the DD is vented. He also said he only had 1000 bux in his first post.

You might be able to get the DD cheap than the L7's but I would rather have the kickers.

Both in their optimum box, and all other things equal, the DD doesn't stand a chance. Sorry dorkins. Yeah, a USED 9515 for under $300... now how much is a pair of USED L7's? Ok then. $300 for a large vented box for the f-body is a damn good deal. I seriously doubt he'll find anyone to give him that price. Speaking of which, what's your decision on the box situation V6Knowledge?

in a big enough box, ported, the dd can hit over 150 dB, not to mention it can go lower than the kickers... so, its lower, and louder
