i have an audiobahn A12001D 1200X1 amp. and it comes with a controller consule that pretty much controlls the "bass boost" on the amp.. like the volume. but i dont know how it works. there is a space on my amp for a "remote" which is where i plug it in, and there is only one wire for the controller, but there is 2 spots on the back of it where wires can be plugged in, and it doesnt work? but when i unplug the controller, the bass is only 50% as loud as when its plugged in.. any ideas???

You said it. It's a bass boost knob. It gives an extra boost at a certain preset frequency. (Usually 45Hz) The reason the amp says "remote" is because that is called a remote bass boost control. (Compared to an integrated knob on the amp itself) It just allows for on the fly adjustments right from the driver's seat. It really works well for those of us that listen to a variety of music. The bass is reduced by half when unplugged...looks like the knob is set to half in the pic. ;) I'm sure the reason it has two jacks in the back of it is so you can control two A12001D with one knob. Wish my remote had that. :(

The phone jack holes(thats what they looked like on my audiobahns) were clearly marked for which unit to plug it in to.2005 Cavalier LS Sport M5
http://members.cardomain.com/firefighter8615

they arent marked at all.. and ive tried plugging the wire into both slots, and neither seem to work so that the knob can work.

check on the amp if there is a frequency knob for the bass boost. I know on my JL Audio 500/1 there is a knob that controls which frequency gets boosted the most out of the frequency curve and also by how much with respect to the other frequencies. If this setting is too low/too high for the type of music you are playing, you won't have a noticable difference in sound.2002 Pewter Metallic Pontiac Firebird

Mods: 3\" Borla Catback Exhaust, SLP Cold Air Intake, Removed Air Silencer, K&N Filter....more to come.....hopefully...

the two openings might be two different boost levels. meaning, one might be more sensitive to the controls. one might not boost the signal as much as the other one does.2002 Pewter Metallic Pontiac Firebird

Mods: 3\" Borla Catback Exhaust, SLP Cold Air Intake, Removed Air Silencer, K&N Filter....more to come.....hopefully...

are there phone plug holes on your amp? or are the like whats on your boost knob?
the knob obviously works if it gets louder when plugged in...
plug it in, and turn the knob all the way down to 0dB (min) and if it still gets louder, the knob is bad
i have a replacement audiobahn knob that should work, it is the newer one that has the phone plug jack in the backWhite 1998 3.8L Camaro
