• LED=on but no bumps???

Ok guys while waiting for my millhouse box to get here, i went and set myself up with a temporary enclosure and wired up everything this evening. Here's my problem- when the radio is on, the LED on the amp is on. when I switch to CD mode, the LED goes out. Either way, my sub does nothing.
Here's my set up... I have a rockford Fosgate power 450s amp bridged to a JL 12-W6 at 2ohms. I'm 100% positive the remote is connected to the right wire off the deck but I'm skeptical about the RCA's. I tested for power at the amp and it's powered (just not turning on in CD mode). Now I have to sleep on it and I wanted to hear it tonight  anyone have ideas??

I know you said you're 100% positive you have the remote lead hooked up to the right spot on your deck, but is it hooked up to the antenna lead or the actual remote power lead? Some decks have two different remote turn on leads, one for the antenna and one for the amps. The antenna one is only on when the radio is on and puts the antenna down when you switch to CD mode, and thus would turn off the amp if you have the lead connected to it.

12W6 come in 6 ohm configurations. so either you are running it at 3 or 12 ohms. maybe the amp does not support this.

I had the same problem, I figured out that i actually had hooked up the remote wire to the antenna wire, so it wouldn't work if i played a cd, try the other light blue wire

hehe... yes guys you're right. I double checked my remote line and it was connected to the power antenna lead. I switched them about 5 minutes ago and guess what happened... *drum roll*..... NOTHING! Now I get no LED when the deck is turned on in radio or CD mode. I just about threw my deck out my car when I saw that.... I'm taking a break... grabbin a beer, and I'll be back at it again. All I know now is that this isn't supposed to be this complicated!

my friend just installed a deck last night(98 mustang), what first seemed to be simple ended up being a *****. Wish I could help, but I can't.

BTW, what kind of deck do you have?

Also, I just looked up the specs for the amp, and they only list power ratings at 4 ohms bridged, 2 ohms per channel if not bridged though. It's possible that your amp cannot handle the 3 ohms bridged load and goes into a protect mode. My amps do this, they'll just shut off sometimes if something's not right. Sadly, I haven't figured out what it is yet. Luckily it rarely happens.

[Edit]
Taken from Crutchfield website: "NOMAD advanced protection circuitry monitors temperature, voltage, current and impedance, and provides "intelligent" shut-down protection without limiting system performance "

I have the Sony CDX-M600 deck and have never had any problems with it... strange huh?!?! Here's an update on whats going on. When I would attach my remote line to my amp to the correct remote wire off my deck, I would get nothing from the amp but my mid volume would cut in half Obviously, I figured it was safe to assume this wasnt good! I changed my wiring a bit (plugged the 12-W6 to 1 channel instead of bridging it) and still had the same issue. Being very frusterated by now because I'm so close, I just hooked the remote line to the amp BACK up to the antenna line because that's the only time I ever got the amp to turn on. The positive to this is that I now have a full system to listen to the radio. The negative is that I lose my sub when I listen to CD's. I just wanted to get my car back together tonight so it was presentable tomorrow for commuting

If anyone knows how to fix my delema, please by all means send me your knowledge! I think I'm just going to take it to my friend who works for a car audio store and see if he can't figure this out.

...it's definitely time to call it a day- fluffy and me are hitting the sack

Well just to update you all on what happened, I had 2 blue wires. One was the power antenna wire (dark blue) and the other was labeled "ATT" (light blue) which was just a mute wire that I guess is virtually useless! My deck was installed very clean when I bought the deck and the guy who installed it actually connected my remote wire to the wire in my factory wire harness that's supposed to raise a power antenna. Well there is no power antenna and so my remote line was wrapped up nice and good with all my speaker wires! So I found it, cut it free of what it was connected to and plugged my amp in and BOOM my radio AND CD's hit now :D My quest for a nearly complete system has concluded and now I'm on to a 4 channel amp so my mids can keep up
