ok i have heared the kappas and have had the perfects. i just need to know how these subs campare. i am trying to build a system for one of my friends and want to know if these sound as good but not as loud or what. he loved how mine sounded but wants something a little more tame than the perfect so i was thinking he could maybe save some money as well. we have an xtant 301a to work with (300w rms .04thd snr>100db so its a dam clean amp with enough power). he is looking for something in the $100 range or less that sounds clear so any other suggestions you have would also be nice.

96Firebird311 is right. I'm running a couple of Elemental Designs K-series right now. They go for about $85 per I believe. Couldn't be happier with them.
If you follow any other forums like the one at sounddomain, you'll find that the most of the regular posters agree that the best subs for your dollar these days are coming from:
Image Dynamics, Elemental Designs, and Adire.
These companies are followed closely by the higher end "Best Buy"-type brands such as Kicker, JL, and Rockford Fosgate.
I tend to like Image Dynamics and Elemental Designs because they play loud and clean in small boxes. And small boxes is about all that can fit in the back of a camaro unless you want to take up the whole t-top well.
Best of luck with your shopping though.╓
║ Matt M
║ Down with the Sixxness
║ Polo Green 1995 3.8 Camaro
║ intake, cat, catback, shocks, 3.42\'s, and 12\'s in the trunk
╙

well i have owned the reference 1020w (2 of them) and now i have 2 12" 1230w (the newer model). these subs perform well for their price and can go pretty loud. they have 12.5mm of xmax and they handle about 350 watts in a sealed enclosure. I would go with the e-designs subs though simply because I believe you should do it right the first time. Im more than happy with my subs and they ALWAYS impress people (and these are the supposed "cheapies") but I am on a budget. anyway good luck with your stereo.
as for your question, they are probably not as loud or accurate as the perfects. but they look nice.A4 :( ws6 hood, magnaflow cat-back, Pewter ppg paint, red calipers w/ decals, t-tops, chrome wheels, cutout, bald rear right tire (3.42 w/o lsd)

after a lot of research and reading comments on sound domain i suggested to the guy im putting the system together for to try the E/D subs and said if he didn't like them then id buy them from him for what he paid. i think the amp we chose to go with will be perfect and he has my old alpine 7969 in for his h/u. should be a clean system. thanks for all your help.2001 Arctic White Firebird With Black Drop Top

3:42 Gears
Zexel LSD
BMR upper A-Arms
Trans Am exhaust with 3\" I-pipe and cutout
Modified intake
Mecham Hood
Trans Go shift kit
Making rear control arms and panhard
